Hunting / Re: Hornady 7mm 139 grain SST

I used to hunt with factory ammo 139 grn SST Superformance in my 7mm08 and killed lots of stuff with it.

I've ordered 5 Boyd's stocks over a period of about 3 years, have always ordered online, and have always received my stocks, flawless and accurate, within 2 weeks. I never tried calling them, but did email them for detailed drawings of certain checkering patterns they offer, and got a response within a day.

Quote from: -CN- on January 06, 2016, 04:28:19 PMYou guys have inspired a different train of thought in my head's internal workings.
I'm going to have one of my current 7mm-08 rifle barrels cut down to 18 inches to satisfy my needs for a more compact rifle. Then, instead of buying a compact rifle, I'm going to get a RAP in 6.5 Creedmoor to replace the one I chopped.

And to update anyone who has been interested, this is exactly what I did!
I got a professional shortening job done locally for 70 bucks. I picked 17" - an inch longer than the Ranch Rifle but an inch shorter than Ruger's own Compact American. With the standard length of pull from the full size stock, my rifle's overall length is the same as the American Compact. Then I replaced my 3-9x40 scope with a fixed 1x (Vortex "Muzzleloader" scope) due to the ultra light weight of it. Using same ammo as I always have it seems to shoot exactly the same too (out to 100 yds anyway) so I am happy with that.
I couldn't wait either, I found a RAP in 6.5 Creedmoor in stock while my 7mm-08 was still at the shop getting the work done. I set it up with a new 4-16x50 scope and will be taking it hunting in the fall.

That's why us motorcycle racers prefer our leather suits made out of roo instead of cow.  A lot tougher and more abrasion resistant, yet thinner and softer and more comfortable.

I've looked at all of them, and I settled for "storm cloud grey". It's easy on the eyes and puts the layout into a familiar form similar to other forums I'm on.

When asked during the Democrat debate in Wisconsin - "how do you address the racial demographics of the state of Wisconsin in regards to prison population, where this state has twice as many blacks in prison as the statewide population demographics should suggest..."?
Not just Killary, but Bernice as well, both responded "we need to crack down on cops".
WTF
And then they argued with each other about who's gonna be tougher on cops and keeping them from incarcerating black people. While the mindless audience cheered.
NEVER ONCE was the criminal or the crimes mentioned.
We are so astronomically, monumentally, screwed, if either of these public interest drones are elected to carry on Oh-Bummer's backwards legacy.

You've got the Ranch and the Predator confused.
The Predator is the rifle with the green stock, and the one that comes in 6.5 Creedmoor. That must be what you have.
It is the Ranch rifle that has the tan stock.
I personally like them both as far as color goes. Styling of the stock isn't the best. However, spray paint on a black American stock worked for me.

General Discussion / Re: Ruger's Innovative Firearms
February 07, 2016, 11:29:57 AM
Huge Ruger fan here too. Currently, Ruger is the only brand of firearms I own.
I know all gun people have wish lists. My wish list is also full of nothing but Rugers.  I love lots of others as well, but there are several more Rugers that will come first: RAP in 6.5 Creedmoor, RPR 6.5 Creedmoor, SR1911, LC9s, another 10/22, Hawkeye Predator in .204, AR556 converted to .204, and a Mini-14.
I MIGHT once again own a different brand one day. Lots of Rugers further up on the list though.

I guess when I think "budget" scope, I think $200 or less.
Vortex Crossfire II scopes are great scopes. I use the 4-12x44 on my deer gun. It's also available in 4-12x40 AO and 4-12x50 AO which I have too. Any of which will reach out and assist you in killing a yote.
If you don't care about bulk and weight, I gotta tell you that a lighted reticle helps when hunting coyotes as the sun sets. This would be in situations before it's too dark to require a spot light. I recently picked up a Crossfire II Hog Hunter 3-12x56 AO V-brite, and I think just having the 30mm tube along with the 56mm lens makes a big difference in visibility of the small fast little critters, especially in low light.

This movie will do nothing but further infuriate the conservatives about our administration. While the libs will remain too stupid to understand this movie is not just a made-up piece of propaganda. Those who should see it won't, and those who will see it already know how f***ed up our national security is under Barry and Hillary.

Quote from: sportacus on January 10, 2016, 08:14:03 PMWill take one tomorrow and post.  Is the pepper Prairie Hunter with 12 3/4 LOP because Dianna is only 5'4" tall.  Laser engraved with fleur-de-lis pattern.  Prairie Hunter has a slightly higher comb than the Classic.  Works well for lady shooters.
I have the same style and color on my RAP. I didn't have to file anything down other than the magazine catch tab.
Now, how do you "bed" it, like recommended? This term confuses me.

Somebody wanted to see a naked picture of the American in a thread on here. I don't think it was ever posted.
Here it is.
