Got in some practice this morning, snow and all ???? Wanted to check MV after drilling 4" plate cold bore at 502yds, and shooting a .10moa 5rd group at 100 to confirm zero.  Hung MS on and sent three rounds.
 24 deg. F, DA around -1500ft. Hash tag 6Dasher, #Patriot Valley Arms, #Hawk Hill, #A&D, #Lapua, #H4895.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Patriot Valley Arms for once again delivering the goods.
I typically supply them my own blanks when it's time to retire the spent barrel. So fairly recently after getting my ducks in a row for the upcoming season, I sent them a Hawk Hill blank I had waited months for. Josh spun me up a fresh pipe for my 6 Dasher. Mind you, my receiver did not accompany the blank, and he managed to get the barrel back to me shouldered for my TL3. I set final torque and checked headspace w a fired case, good to go. Just finished getting another 175 rds down it yesterday for a total of 225rds fired to date. Right on schedule, match in 2 wks... MV has stabilized and I'm calling it good to go. Mostly positional work when I practice, but I changed primers so I shot some groups to verify moa. I'm seeing low teens and I have yet to even make a final decision on what jump I'm going to run. Good problem to have lol.
The best part is the consistency that Josh can maintain. My fired brass is spot on to the previous chamber. The most extreme spread I can detect is half a thousandth. To put that into perspective I don't even need to adjust the lock ring on my sizing die to set bump on brass for the new chamber. Can't ask for better than that on the job that PVA delivers. Obvious to anyone paying attention how stringent he is about monitoring the wear on his tooling, i.e. reamers. To measure up (literally) to the standard on which he imposes on his chamber work continues to only build my confidence that I have for his work and services. The proof is on the target. IMPACT!

Ps. Forget to mention, he also cut me a .223 Wylde that is a laser beam.

Reloading / Powder Funnel Bling
March 16, 2017, 05:30:22 PM
I've grown bored of the 30 yr old powder funnels. Been considering the Saterns cause I like the aluminum construction and it's anti static properties, along with their brass fittings to sit on necks, until I fortuitously came across these couch surfing. Intrigued enough by the Xtreme Hardcore Gear's design and appearance that I have a 6mm and 6.5mm inbound. Short review https://youtu.be/xKPPw3IuEgE

General Discussion / ? Am I losing my mind?
October 06, 2016, 07:21:43 PM
So suddenly I don't have access to any "function buttons" when replying. I can't post pix, or link. Only option I get is a "message icon" with a drop down menu and "Attach:" with a "choose files" that does nothing after selecting a photo. Anyone else experiencing this condition? Only thing I've done is latest software update to iPhone but i believe I lost the functions prior to that.
In general the latest 10.0.2 and is a total piece of shit,   My phone absolutely sucks now! Wishing I didn't do it.

Ok guys here's the deal. I'm wanting to purchase a "good" not necessarily "awesome" spotting scope. I have done some research and @ over the $1k bracket there are some very nice offerings. But I'm not sure I want to drop that much coin on a spotter that will only be used on occasion. So do you guys have any recommendations/experience with less expensive models that could still be considered decent quality? I'm thinking I want a 45 degree eyepiece, respectable glass, 20-60x that will allow me to glass out to 1000 yds. Ideally I'd like to stay sub $600 but not at the price of sacrificing quality, but at the same token I don't feel I'll need to identify a mosquito at 3000ft. either. You get the jist, respectable performance, but I'll cry once if sub $600 is a pipe dream. tia

Reloading / Dumb powder ?
May 27, 2016, 10:03:43 AM
So I wanted your guys feedback on this...
I've been acquiring H4350 for awhile now. All of it though local jaunts (I refuse on sheer principle to pay the ludicrous Hazmat fee! Please don't get me started ????!!!!) Unfortunately I've never been able to score 8lbrs. So I grab 1lb jugs because some is better than none right? Ok, I've been fortunate that when I do snag 3 or 4 bottles at a clip that they are same matching lot# as I check. So I have a few  "clusters" of matching lots, e.g., 4 here, 3 there, which leads to my dumb question...
I have 3 lbs that are odd lot #, what do you guys think about combining all 3 so I can get a run on for 500+ rounds? I've been ruminating over this for awhile now. Has anyone done it? My trepidation stems from "what if one lot is way off, would I be contaminating 3 lbs?" Either way I compensate as I do for all my different lot #'s. Just don't know for certain if this practice is ill advised.
TIA for Experiences and opinions.

Reloading / Harrell's Powder Measure
May 21, 2015, 10:27:13 PM
Considering buying one of these. Premium model looks like it will fit my bill.
I'm most interested in the actual accuracy of the "throws", weighed on a quality digital scale to verify the measured spread? Do they like the  current popular extruded powders, or do they cut too much to hold consistent weighed charge? Will I be trickling to hold my spec. as to negate its usefulness?
Anyone care to share their experience on subject, e.g. pros/cons, recommendations, rating, etc..., thanks in advance.

Reloading / Who's Press?
April 23, 2015, 10:55:01 AM
So for over 2 decades I ran an old Lyman Orange crusher. Served me well but tolerances were getting a wee sloppy from so many cycles. Deciding it was time to retire old Betsey I researched subject fairly extensively and landed on Forster Co-Ax. I've had it about 6 mos. and couldn't be more pleased. It, without a doubt, has me loading the most concentric, lowest run-out rounds ever. True float in both the die itself (forward and backward) and the shell holder (left and right) hence the Co-Ax name. With the combination of it's self centering characteristics and neck turning brass, I feel like I'm sending off bullets into bore as best they can fly.

The only negative feedback I've heard about and can attest to (but not agree with) is the die lock rings wear ever ever so slightly over time. It's because they are aluminum. The bitch I've read about is guys cry "how cheap" blah blah blah. Ur-um.. It's designed that way on purpose. Since the press body is cast iron if Steel rings were used, eventually the motion of die in cradle would wear into itself and press is useless. The press comes with a couple spares to outfit your dies w/ or buy a 12pk.. I've found the Whidden die lock rings work perfectly also.

So what do are your current favorite stamping machines?

Wanted to post this to help get the word out! Michael Bloomberg is now using his billions to help push gun control, the liberals will never let up and will resort to any lengths including fabrication and blatant dishonesty to push their agenda to attack our (American citizens) rights concerning gun ownership. In VT of all places the safest state in the union, why? Back door tactics. The anti gun establishment with the support of a byass media is not going away, to the contrary they are organized and rallying, more than ever. I urge all concerned to please get involved.

This is a letter my F&G club in VT has drafted and sent to the Vermont Senate regarding more proposed gun control legislation. Us members have been directed to get the word out about bill S.141.; "Please share this everywhere you can. DO NOT, I REPEAT,
DO NOT SEND ANY LETTERS OR CALLS TO ANYONE IN THE VERMONT SENATE INCLUDING THIS LETTER. They all have it."

Letter to senate as follows:

Dear Senator,

Please vote NO on S.141.

Multi-billionaire Michael Bloomberg is spending millions of dollars nationwide in order to get some form of gun control passed in the state of Vermont.

He has advertised in every major media outlet thought the country in order to promote false accusations in order to garner support for the gun control legislation currently coming up on the Senate floor.

He has libeled Vermont nationwide, and has also libeled licensed firearms dealers with false accusations of sales to prohibited individuals, resulting in possible legal action against his "Everytown For Gun Safety."

He and his astroturf organization, Gun Sense Vermont, have not been honest about any part of this bill.

Is this the final step? NO.

A statement made by Ann Braden, president of Gun Sense Vermont, indicated they will be back again next year for more legislation including universal background checks.

The current bill, S.141, consists of 3 parts:

Felons in possession, Mental Health, and the NH Gun Shop Project.

Part 1.

You will hear that this bill is going forward because federal prosecutors are not enforcing federal laws, so Vermont prosecutors need this new legislation. This is NOT true.

According to testimony from the A.T.F. .on March 18, 2015, in the Senate Judiciary Committee, the federal government IS currently prosecuting federal gun crimes and drug runners.

Currently, there is a Vermont statute, Title 13, Chapter 85, Section 4005 that states:

"While committing a crime, [e]xcept as otherwise provided in 18 V.S.A. ยง 4253, a person who carries a dangerous or deadly firearm, openly or concealed, while committing a felony shall be imprisoned not more than five years or fined not more than 0.00, or both."

In this time of financial difficulty, do you want to increase the funding for the courts and dept. of corrections or let the Federal Government pay for the job they are actually doing?

Part 2.

There are currently 260 persons in the mental health system which have been adjudicated as a danger to themselves or others. The vast majority of them are not violent. Many of these people are anorexic, diabetics who refuse to take their insulin, or people who cannot take care of themselves. Mental illness is a curable disease and turning their names over to the NICS will not help them get better. Although there is a way for them to get out of the database, why should they have to go through the court system because they refuse to eat or take insulin?

Part 3.

This section deals with researching the New Hampshire Gun Shop Project as a pro-active concept to help Vermont's gun owners in times of stress to receive the help they need without stigmatizing them.

We ask you to support this section as a "stand alone" bill. If this is why your voting for this bill rest assured The Gun Owners of Vermont and other sportsmen's groups will be implementing this program - with or without legislation.

Presently, Michael Bloomberg's political machine and Gun Sense Vermont are cold-calling thousands of people from around the country, soliciting them to send emails and calls to this body asking for passage of S.141.

Do you want to vote for an out-of-state billionaire or listen to the people of Vermont?

I and my organization respectfully ask that you vote "NO" on S.141 because there are already laws in effect that deal with these problems and you should never take away someone's Constitutional rights under Article 16 of the Vermont Constitution when there is no need to do so !

The constitutional rights of the citizens of Vermont should never be haphazardly violated because a billionaire thinks we should do what he thinks !

If you have any questions about this bill please call me at 802 463 9026

Remember: Vermont is the safest state in the union and one of the safest places on this planet !

This is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Respectfully yours,

Ed Cutler

Gunsmithing / 6.5 Bore Guide
March 30, 2015, 08:01:29 PM
So waiting on my new 6.5cm rig it dawned on me I haven't picked up a bore guide for it yet. I'll be running a Stiller TAC30 action. I'm completely tooled and stocked up with components to begin load development for this beast when it's ready... but brain farted the guide. I have the basic Sinclairs for my other rigs which I believe serve me just fine. I know I can have one made custom (need be) but any of you guys know of a vendor who STOCKS an offering that you like or recommend FOR A TAC30? I'm thinking a Rem700 guide may work?? Thanks in advance.

Optics, Sights, Mounts, Etc. / Tangent Theta
February 27, 2015, 08:23:06 PM
Tangent Theta .comAnyone running one of these yet? They bought out Premier optics. Been shopping for new glass for the new build and these are a front runner. Their turrets are so trick! FFP is a must for me, and if I can get it in 50mm objective even better. These appear very well engineered, but I'm always a little weary about new product. Primal Rights is selling them and praises them very highly in a review. Thoughts?
