Do cheap muzzle brakes work?

I currently have 3 muzzle brakes.  They are all fairly high dollar reputable company brakes.  I recently bought a little TC Compass, while they were on sale around the holidays.  There are lots of cheap brakes, probably Chinese made that look like some of the better performing models.  I don't want to spend $150 to $200 for a brake on a $204 rifle.  Anyone use any of these cheapos?

Thanks Bob.  You using it on a 6.5 or the .308?

Yah, one on a 24" 6.5cm AR,  other is on a 6.5cm RAP.
Range buddies like to move down a few benches from those.
First one was on an 18" 308 bolt, but since it mostly stays in the safe, it was moved to the RAP.

I looked for a long time for a brake that did what I wanted. Reduced recoil, not too loud for the shooter, won't kick up dust, and shoots well. It was expensive, and worked perfectly.  Brakes when compared to powder and bullets are considerably cheap, as they obviously are not consumables.  They can also be transferred to another rifle or later sold.

Well I just took a chance on an auction site cheapie.  It was under $20 bucks shipped.  Made sure it had no ports on bottom as my main concern is muzzle going up from recoil.  It's the typical 3 side port and 2 smaller on type.  Thought it may be worth taking a flyer on.  We will see.
