Quote from: DHuffman on April 22, 2024, 06:56:05 AMIt was a hell of 4-6 weeks, I am glad my brother, Dad and I were together though.

Not sure if I brought this up on here or not but I lost my mom in November.. diagnosed with cancer in October.. 3 weeks later was gone.. it's tough man and I feel your pain.. dying is a part of living though.. I'm thankful my mom didn't have to endure months of pain and agony and know she and your dad are in a better place..

Quote from: LeadHammer on April 18, 2024, 11:09:34 PMI think with Lilja, you can get shims to adjust headspace on the 457.

Lilja sends a shim kit with the barrel..👍

Well I'm not going to be able to shoot in the factory class after this next match.. I ordered me a Lilja 26" match chambered straight contoured barrel for my 457 yesterday.. might as well play with the heavy hitters if I'm gonna play..

Now ya just need to take it all back apart and get it powder coated or ceracoated.. she will show rust eventually with that spray paint.. I'm sure you know that though.. but it looks good dave.. and functional as well.. well done..

If the shooter is feeling muzzle blast from his own gun he's using the wrong brake.. I would think the jolt of recoil on non braked guns of the bigger calibers would be harder on ya .. I know I wouldn't want to shoot my 280ai or 300wm too many times without a brake on them.

Had a match this morning.. 2 stages.. one at a 100 yards and one at 50.. I shot factory and open.. did ok in factory class.. finished 4th out of 10 and couldn't tell ya where I finished in open.. we drawer numbers for shooting order and I got the worst draw I could get.. dead last.. lol.. when the match started they was only about a 3 mph breeze.. by the time it was my turn to shoot that breeze had turned into about a 12 to 14 mph wind.. hitting us in the back.. the range has big burns down each side of it and across the back.. it was like a funnel for that wind.. one time I would shoot high the next I would be low with me holding center.. targets at a 100 was plenty big enough to hit but I missed any way.. but still it was a good time.. the 50 yard line I did good at on the kyl.. but at the end of the day you totalled all your points from both stages..

Quote from: jvw2008 on April 13, 2024, 10:24:46 AMI grew up gigging frogs. They weren't a nuisance but they sure taste good. 😊

They sure do.. me and a buddy hunted and killed a bunch of them when I was a young man.. but we didn't gig many of them.. our firearm of choice was 22lr revolvers.. loaded with superx bird shot.. wouldn't be a stretch to get a 100 to a 150 in a night..

Soft shell turtles are good for nothing other than making more soft shell turtles.. their a nuisances here..

I have checked that already dave.. it picked it up fine but was pushing the round too flat.. I had to open the front of the feed lips on the magazine just a fuzz.. then it worked good.. that bottom metal has been a worry for me for the last couple weeks but them worries are gone now..

Reloading / Re: Stoked first load coming together
April 10, 2024, 08:38:52 PM
For me when I bought my first 6.5 creedmoor I also bought two boxes of hornady 129sst's and my savage predator hunter shot them horribly.. I thought the 6.5 creedmoor was just a bunch of hype.. but them two boxes gave me 40 cases.. I took them and joined this forum.. and read threads from the reloading section for days.. and seen where about everyone was shooting 140 gr bullets.. so I bought a box of 140 eldm bullets and loaded them with h4350 not even knowing yet how to really work up a load. So I loaded some just under book max and my gun came alive.. and that became my quest into precision reloading and long range shooting ..
