Didn't replace them because if you aren't using them it's green dollars in and green fertilizer back out. I still miss having them around though.
Thanks Jerry.  My wife and I have lived here for almost 34 years and are very fortunate indeed.

We acquired the grey Arab when he was three years old as we were moving in.  He is now approaching 37.....amazing boy.  Still thinks he is king of the pasture.  They are my wife's passion but I do ride and enjoy their gentle and often playful ways.

Beautiful Chris!!! We are way behind. Some shrubs have just started to bud.

This one is special to us, albeit a tree. We were garden shopping at a local nursery when we stumbled on this set-aside, small tree. The label said Shiraz Maple, a wine color I guess. Anyway, Mrs. Mutt said she wanted it in no uncertain terms. I had no less than three other shoppers try to either snatch my cart, or the tree. Regardless, we got out with the tree and planted it.

Turns out this one is a color marvel. Right now, in the picture, it's at it's best Shiraz. Soon, the foliage will become variegated with green and red, then green and white. The bark is best described as the color of the Hulk comic book character.

It serves as a landing spot for suspicious humming birds, nervous finches and our dog Sophie, the birds bathe, slake their thirst, Sophie just dreams of eating any, and all of them.

We feel blessed to have this constant reminder of nature's gifts so close, to enjoy every day.

Rescued from Lowes, these were set on the $5 rack in the garden center, originally $39.95 each including the fancy pots, no longer watered, left to perish.

My wife sent me to get a cart, I started counting the financial loss in terms of H4350, lol.

Well, a week later, with her careful attention and pruning, the patients are off life support and thriving.

Worth a share I think  :D

Here's one for our Independence Day remembrance coming up; Mrs. Mutt's prize "Mister Lincoln" rose in full bloom.
