Quote from: Capt on March 16, 2016, 10:07:48 PMEd's right.  After the election, if Clinton is elected, the repubs WILL confirm Garland, IMO.  If a repub is elected, Garland can pack it in.

This is how I viewed the situation. Like you say if Clinton is elected, I believe Garland will be as much as we could hope for considering how extreme Hell-ery's positions are...   ::)

The conservative Judicial Crisis Network, which plans to spend at least $2 million on an advertising campaign to oppose Judge Merrick Garland's nomination, says the nominee "has a very liberal view of gun rights."

JCN chief counsel Carrie Severino said in a blog post that Judge Garland's record on the bench since 1997 "leads to the conclusion that he would vote to reverse one of Justice Scalia's most important opinions, D.C. vs. Heller, which affirmed that the Second Amendment confers an individual right to keep and bear arms."

In 2007, a three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit ruled against the District's handgun ban in Parker v. District of Columbia (the case which eventually became District of Columbia v. Heller when it went before the Supreme Court).

Merrick Garland Obama SCJ Nominee

Certainly not who I was looking for...

Hunting / Re: Critter Eradication
March 06, 2016, 10:51:21 PM
I was sitting in a stand hog hunting down in Florida last month and on our final day I went postal on a half dozen racoon that had been vacuuming up the the corn at this broadcast feeder all week. My friend whose property we were hunting on was fine with a little pest removal... The way they were running around after I began shooting felt like Hogans Alley!    8)

General Discussion / Re: Apple
February 23, 2016, 09:48:31 PM
Quote from: darter on February 23, 2016, 08:42:34 PMHow would Apple know if there was a eminent threat to anyone. They do not monitor your devices and that is the way it should be.
As I had stated, I was simply considering a 'hypothetical' situation, nothing more. I'll take this 'hypothetical' situation a little further. All branches of our Govt. (NSA, CIA, FBI, NIC, NCTC, NCIX, DIA, etc.) have received the same creditable information that a certain cell phone the Govt. has recovered has information that will greatly assist in stopping a terrorist plot from taking place. I for one would not have an issue with this data being recovered and used to stop a terrorist act.

I never said anything about Apple KNOWING if there was an eminent threat to anyone. I would hope Apple would not monitor our devices. And yes, that is the way it should be...

Just thought of a hypothetical situation. What if there was an imminent threat that the FBI was aware of and they had received a phone that had critical information/data on that could potentially stop another attack like we had out in 'Kalifornia'... Should Apple capture and forward the data to the authorities? (Playing a little Devils advocate here).  8)

Personally I think Apple should unlock the phone. Apple then ONLY gives the FBI the data from the phone nothing more.

Ammunition / Re: Hornady factory ELD-X rounds for sale
February 21, 2016, 10:59:36 AM
Well Cabela's thought highly enough about me  ::)  to email a 'Get $20 off of a purchase of $150.00 or more' coupon and I happened to be driving by so I stopped in to see what they had on the shelf. Found 8 boxes of 140gr ELD Match ammo for $28.99/box. Purchased it all and with tax it worked out to $26.49/box.

Thedismisser, I looked at Runnings website, (It asked me to share my location) did a search and wasn't able to find any 6.5CM ammo. Guessing they only carry/sell it select regions? Oh Well...

AR Variants / Re: Best Creedmoor Ar Build!

Quote from: shooterfpga on February 19, 2016, 12:56:24 AMIm not familiar with the toolcraft bolt. However i used a traditional 308 bolt before and had nothing but issues with factory 140gr. Im going with a high pressure bolt this time around with the smaller firing pin like the jp bolt.

I might try the silent captured spring ive seen people rave about it and some have nothing but problems. Im more of a traditionalist and dont believe in changing buffer weights and springs much.

I went with a JP Heavy Tungsten Silent capture spring and JP 308 HP BCG for my 6.5 CM platform and it functions flawlessly with the 120 and 140gr. Hornady match ammo I've shot through it so far.  (Also using an adjustable gas block). Granted, I will make adjustments to the gas block depending on which ammo I'm shooting, but I've made note of the # of clicks I have to add or subtract relative to the load.

I have a Cabela's Instinct Euro HD 20-70×82 spotting scope. It is made by Meopta and is identical to their MeoStar S2 20-70x82 . I compared it to everything Cabela's had in their store and other than the top of the line Swarovski's nothing else came close. (FWIW, the Nightforce TS82 is the same thing but with a different skin).

I ordered a bore guide with insert from Mike Lucas for my 6.5CM and must have contacted him at the right time. (I received mine in about 2 weeks). I was surprised once I had received it. It was labeled 6mm Creedmoor. (Does anyone else who owns Lucas bore guide have a 6mm CM label as well?) I called Mike and he said it was simply missed labeled. Seems to work all right.

For my other rifles, I have a Sinclair bore guide for an AR-10 (308 Winchester) and an Aluminum JP Enterprises bore guide of my AR-15's.

Quote from: ezekeial on January 28, 2016, 06:52:34 PMNot new to shooting or reloading, but trying to learn some about longer range.  Fortunately got 600 yd range 5 minutes away. Go by zeke on several other boards.

Welcome! I have a lake home in Rice Lake, and belong tho the Brill gun club. (Unfortunately this club only has a max. range of 600 yards, but I have a friend who belongs to a range in Harris, MN that goes out to 1000).
