Mentioned in another post.  We have worked up some excellent hunting loads in 6.5 PRC.  H1000 with 156 Berger and 140 Speer Gold Dot. About to start the drill with H4831sc.  My friend Craig passed the Spotted Dog in Columbia, LA this morning.  Went back to check, just in case. Jim and I saddled up and headed north.  A one hour drive. We are now holding a mixed bag of more H1000, Retumbo, RL33 and H4350.  They had a 4 can limit which I applaud.  Spread the wealth.

Yes sir.  Picked it up yesterday.  Like it.  Thought I would miss the 5.7. Don't.  Can't get WeatherTech floor liners or seat covers yet.  Those vendors behind because the release was so late.

Been working a deal on a new Tundra since early January.  Deal looks good right now. But, talked to the young salesman. He feels any incentives/rebates are negated by their benevolence to sell it at MSRP. Tee-hee.  Love it when millennials misjudge white headed old folk. Scalded his a** with e-mail and ready to blow the deal up tomorrow.  Will roll to Tejas and get what I want at a reasonable price

Only have 42 rounds out of mine.  Factory ELD-X and ELD-M.  Shoots tight with both.
Confident we can put something together for me with the 156's.

Thank you sir.  All are 24" barrels on hunting rifles.  Mine is a Alamo Precision with Mueller barrel.  Suspect it got a little more TLC.   Limited components the X factor.  Same for everybody on the forum.  Want accurate, lethal loads.  Long for the day when we could chase the dragon.  Now, thoughtful use of supplies the driver.

Randy,
Is there a Sportsman's Warehouse within reasonable drive? The one nearest me has BH 209.  Order on line but have to pick up in store.  I will die and go to Hell before I point the hood of my truck towards Gonzales, LA.

Weather cruddy as a front was passing.  Plan was to do some 6.5 PRC brass prep. No shooting because of wind/rain. We had worked up a accurate 156 Berger EOL load with H1000 a few weeks ago.  Starting load with MV around 2600+.  When we were done with brass prep, weather was breaking.  Loaded three with 56 grains. COAL 2.955. My friend Craig had his CA Mesa in his truck.  Launched those three off front rest and rear bag.  1/4".  Recorded for posterity.  He will run a few next week over my Magneto.  If the MV is between 2700-2800, will probably be his hunting load.

We are all holding a pound or two of this and that.  I am going to start my quest using H4831sc. We know H1000 works in Craig's CA Mesa and Jimmy's Tikka.  Think between us we have 2.5 ponds of H1000 left.  Maybe three or four pounds of H4831sc. Will admit I am enjoying getting back into the reloading game.

Their carbon cleaner is the "cat's whiskers" for cleaning muzzleloaders shot with Blackhorn 209.  Used a whole bunch of products and scrubbed X 2.  Still had corrosive residue.  That problem went away with the KG carbon cleaner.  Born way too late to be a mountain man or to ride with Forrest. But, take care of my chit.

Y'all tweaked my curiosity.  Berger makes a couple of 180, 7mm hunting pills.  All the manuals/data are at the communal reloading shack about 5 miles from the homeplace.  I will chase this one.  Sinful to do it with my old Rem 700 Rem Mag.  But all in to try with the 280 pump. I am way too old.  Looking for bullet performance on Bambi like Evil Roy Slade put on Bad Bob.  Google it.  1972.  Starred John Astin of Addams Family fame. A hole you could see through. :))

If a 190 out of a.280 spanks, can probably handle it. Grab on to 200's and 225's out of a 35 Whelen or 3.5" turkey loads from a 12 gauge 870.  Don't do it if you are still young enough to procreate.   ;)

Thank you brothers.  If Mr. Carl does not sell the 280 before I get back over to Jena, will do just that.  Was always a little peculiar.  Only 30 cal I ever kept was the 1969, 30-30, 336C my Mom gave to me as a Christmas present.  All about 6, 6.5 and 7mm bangers.

Just did some research on several forums.  Understand now why .338 Federal is not dying, but dead. Scratch that.  Back to the 35 Whelen conversion.  Will hold the the Model 6 .308.  Basically a BDL pump action. 98% with maybe 50 rounds through it.

All engines stop. Have another 7600 donor.  .308 Model Six I bought from a neighbor 10 years ago. Will have it converted into a 338 Federal with with 20" heavy barrel. Before I commit, will research ammo, component availability.  338 Federal is a dying caliber.

Have been soul searching for something handy, but with thump for my close encounters in timber/thickets.  .243, CM, PRC,7-08 and 7mag have gotten it done for the last 45 years.  Long in the tooth. Don't want to trail and drag anymore. Have a new in box, Rem 7600 50th year special run in 280 Rem on consignment in a LGS.  Had not sold last Friday.  Will retrieve and send to some fellows in CO to be rebarrelled as a 35 Whelen with brake and trigger upgrade. We reloaded some accurate 200 grain 35 Whelen last summer for the the CVA break actions.  Legal for primative seasons in LA and MS. Shoot a 3" group with one of those stompers and you are pushing Chris Kyle status.
