I put in for Moose (Non-Resident in Maine), and Elk here in Virginia. First year for the elk permits, and it looks like 5 will be issued in total.

Either sex Mule Deer = no
Antlerless Mule Deer = yes ( 2 deer zone )
I got drawn for either sex mule deer finally. Old lady got drawn for moose.
Not drawn for Virginian Elk, nor for Maine Moose.. Trying again next year I guess. Sigh...

Well I struck out in wyoming again on my bucket list elk after having 12 years of preference points!
I applied for pronghorn and deer in a familiar unit and espect to draw them!
Right now I'm contemplating applying in north dakota too!! I am hoping to get some reports from Dave on what he sees or would guess might be a good area there to apply for! The northwest corner of ND has the most available tags for non residents!!
I did not put in for moose this year, I opted to just hold my position in the draw. My back won't be ready for a big hunt.
ND is a pretty hard state to draw a tag in. Wish you luck though.
I put in for the Virginia Elk tag, but missed out the second year in a row. Only 5 tags, and they just started last year to help with herd management. Also put in for Moose up in Maine, but the odds there are pretty slim as well.
Deer I usually hunt out on my sister's farm in Missouri, so no draw required, just buy the out of state tags.
I'm dreaming about a trip to the homeland (northwest OK) to hunt on the North Canadian River this fall.

Does that far northwest corner of ND boast many Deer? I have a friend who lives in Dickenson who did not think that was my wisest choice! He had been in Williston till just lately!

There's a lot of deer in divide and burke counties.
Well I didn't draw a wyoming elk tag but did have successful antelope and deer tags for my favorite area west of Gillette and east of buffalo!!
I also let my memory win again on forgetting to make my north dakota application on time!
I need an expert in South Dakota nonresident applications to help me out on what areas to apply for and what when to apply! I would like to have an alternate plan if things don't pan out for my solo trip again!
I feel a monkey on my back since I canceled my western trip two years ago! My son threw me under the bus on my elk trip plans and now looking forward to next year! My youngest son had showed interest in the pronghorn trip but changed his mind at the last minute! There are no leftover tags available in areas that we know but a few closeby!
