Does anyone have experience with the Fort Polk MWR shooting range.  I see on the website that it is open to the public/hours etc.  I don't see an in depth description of the target set-up.  It is about a 2hr trip from my home and it is the only non-club range that has greater than a 300yd target line.  Before I head up that way I was hoping that someone with experience at the complex could advise as to whether it is  set-up well.

Ammunition / Re: 120gr or 140gr for longer distances?

Quote from: Stradibarrius on January 16, 2016, 06:14:44 PMIt seems that if the 140 amax would be better sat longer distance, 1000 ads, then it should also out perform at 100 yds? ???
Is this true?

Not true....in real world conditions.  For example you have a 120gr  bullet that shoots .5 MOA at 100 yards and a Higher BC/heavier 142gr bullet that shoots .75 MOA at 100 yds.  Now put a 3-5mph variable wind at full value in the equation..bullet two may still hold less than 1 MOA at 1000yds where bullet 1, with its lower BC and more susceptibility to wind effects, may shoot greater than 1 MOA at that distance.  Now let us say that bullet 1, with its lower BC, decelerates to the trans-sonic range at 900 yds and bullet 2 is supersonic to the target.  You can see that the 142gr more stable bullet will group better at 1000 yds even though it may get beat at 100 yds by the lighter/lower BC bullet.

They were :(.  Signed up for a few boxes when back in stock.  Unfortunately once on the site I just had to order a bunch of other stuff that will help quell the fever for now.

Spartacus...I'm probably not far down the road from 'ya.  I might have to stake out your mailbox in a week or so and intercept a package ;).
