No such thing as too much gun for a varmint. I have been known to use 110 vmax's pushing close to 4k out of my 300rum.

Good luck on getting that 8 point buck. I just got a decent 11 point the other day with my creed.

I shot this a few times this afternoon at 300 and 430 yards.. it shot pretty good i thought.. between 1/2 and 3/4 moa.. being as i was outside on my platform shooting i used my caldwell brass catcher and after shooting 5 or 6 i looked in the bag and only seen one case.. the others had stuck to the top part of the bag where they had melted the nylon bag when they came out of the gun.. they were hanging in there by the necks .. lol.. didnt burn any holes in it but they was hot enough to melt that nylon enough to get them to stick.. all in all im very happy with how the rifle is doing.. recoil is minimal.. cycling well.. shooting good.. brass isnt all beat up.. exactly what i was after.. 😁

Wayne that is something I noticed about this one .. can send ten or 15 rounds down it pretty quick and the barrel is just luke warm. I guess all them hot gasses going back into the gas system.. i also noticed the brass comes out of the thing hot as hell.. burn you hot.. lol
Nice shooting Grant.....looks very nice for a new rifle.

Regarding the hot brass, I've noticed that with my AR versus the Bolt gun.  The AR brass comes out much hotter than the bolt.  Maybe the bolt cycles slower and more heat is dissipated by the chamber.   I use one of the brass catchers....they are made of nylon....so hot brass will have a tendency to melt nylon.  The Grendel doesn't get that hot but I've seen some of the catchers with holes melted in them.

I was successful in getting it off the trailer and into the shop without getting hurt or damaging anything.  So a successful afternoon.  There was some shipment damage to the unit, mainly, some broken knobs and a few dings.  I will be calling Grizzly on Monday to see about getting them taken care of.  From what I've read, their customer support is supposed to be pretty good.

With the help of my wife and my neighbor, we were able to guide it down the ramps off the trailer.  We made use of three floor jacks to roll it down the ramps.  Then I used the cherry picker to lift each end and remove the pallet and set it on some heavy duty dollies.  Then spent a couple hours cleaning it.  Still need to reassemble some of the pieces I took off and mount and connect the DRO.  I suspect that by the end of tomorrow, I should have all of it connected, fluids filled, power connected and unit leveled so I can run thru the recommended break-in.

HaHa! 😂

Sounds like that one might be big enough to make a whole hat! If there is anything left. 😊

Just did something evil.  Have deer showing behind my house.  Getting pics of a OK 8 that I will shoot if he shows during legal.  Walked by the French doors off dining room and saw something large and black.  Thought it might be a young feral hog.  Put the binos on. Nope.  King of the Racoons.  Swapped the PRC out of the rest and slid in the X Bolt 6.5 CM.  105 yards.  130 Berger VLD-H.  Toast.  Too much gun?   :))

Too warm to hunt and too windy to fish.  Have acquired a couple of new toys in the last few months.  Level Right Pro and Fix It Sticks.  The Sticks are awesome on a rifle with a pic rail.  No go on my Collier 6.5 CM with Talley bases and rings.  Head was starting to hurt checking level on the CM.  No confidence on the index level.  For most things in life, if I have a index or baseline, can produce a successful result.  The proper solution was a combination of Level Right and Wheeler Pro Leveling System. This works. Two index levels.  Last resort is the plumb bob hanging from the trim on the dining room door. LOL.
