Sorry about the delay....here is the diagram off the room. The vertical walls go up 5' before they slant to finish at a 10' ceiling.

Reloading / Reloading room help!
March 12, 2024, 10:24:20 AM
Gents,
We are in the process of building our long term home. I finally got my air conditioned reloading room! Now Im looking for your best ideas for my room. It's going to roughly be 30 feet long and 15ish wide. It's the bonus room above our garage. The walls will go up 5 feet they slant toward the center of the room. I am open to any and all ideas since it hasn't been built yet.

Ideas I'm playing with: vault door on main entrance, building a safe room inside the reloading room....

I'm also kinda stumped on how to build my bench with the slanted walls.

That JTAC is hands down amazing! The results of the class take a little while to show up but it paid huge dividends last year!!!

I do exactly what Gman does. I also use the auto trickler system. If it looks like i am going to run out of power while loading a batch, i just dump it into the new 8 lb jug, give is a good shake. Next I load up about 10 -15 rounds and head to the range to make  sure the speed is where i want it. Thats what i do....

Quote from: LeadHammer on July 23, 2021, 12:56:07 PMI took him to a beginner rimfire PRS day, he had fun but does not like the pressure of competition much, and although he had fun, was not that interested unfortunately.

So my buddy was facing something similar with his daughter. He really wanted her to shoot center fire but she was scared of the gun's recoil. When he came back from the WAR comp, he had picked up a CADEX chassis off the prize table and she got all excited because she thought it was for her. So he gave it to her with the condition that she would be brave and shoot center fire. Two weeks later he is posting a video of her killing it at 900 yards. She is so small though, her dad has to move the gun for her, she moves her step stool and then shoots. :-D Keep the faith man...he might still come around.

Quote from: jvw2008 on July 23, 2021, 10:31:33 AMMarried or unmarried really isn't relevant. What's important is what makes you feel successful and fulfilled. Some guys who never marry would have made great husbands and fathers. Some guys who are husbands and fathers never should have married. I can't think of anything I could buy that would have given me the feeing of fulfillment that I've received from my wife and children. But by golly I still enjoy the heck out of buying stuff - both for myself and my family.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Watching her burn it down brings me a new type of satisfaction that i have never known before.

Bolt Action Rifles / Re: 6 mm dasher
July 23, 2021, 07:37:14 AM
I put this post in the gadgets section, but i thought i would post it here too since it pertains to dasher ballistics.

I was being cheap, and i built this chart because i refused to spend $500 bucks on a Kestrel.

The first page explains how to use the chart. These are the 3 things that I always needed to get from Kestrel owners when i was at a match. The 3 things are nothing more than mathematical equations that i built using excel. The PDF is built so that Pages 3 & 4 can be printed double sided. Page 5 is designed to be printed single sided and folded / ripped up for whatever size target you have and then clipped to your Data board on your gun.

The three things that this file does is:
1) Determine the speed of a moving target
2) Determines the lead to the CENTER of the moving target (little bit of math required if you want to use the leading edge)
3) Based on the target size, gives values for Unknown distances stages.

Calculations are all included. The speed is worked for 2875-2950. There is very little variation due the times that we are talking about.

I love my little Wolf Pack and having a strong competitive mate is rather sexy! Lone wolf's don't get far in the wild.

Quote from: jvw2008 on July 22, 2021, 08:04:05 AMSounds like you are impressed with them. Did some reading just now - looks like a hot item in the PRS world. ????

They are machines to extremely tight tolerances. my gunsmith doesnt need my action to spin me new barrels either. The best shooters in the PRS are using them too.

Quote from: autoxforfun on July 19, 2021, 06:21:33 PMI know what you mean.  Actions are taking a long time.  The Defiance took 6 months to arrive.

Have yall considered impact actions? My gunsmith has them in-stock right now. I have 3 of them and love em! I traded away my defiance cert for an impact.

Quote from: rardoin on July 19, 2021, 04:29:01 PMOK Josh, you had me interested again in obtaining a Distinguished Rifleman badge.  I did some online searching and noted on the NRA competitors section that the NRA instituted a DR program for High Power Rifle in 2017; I thought I still had to shoot CMP EIC matches to qualify.  I was wrong.  Attached is the link to the page on the NRA site:  https://competitions.nra.org/results-and-records/distinguished-program/

They refer to pages 83-84 in the NRA HP rulebook but, in true NRA confusing fashion, it is actually pages 90-91.  In summary 'steps' are awarded for finishing in the top 10% of the qualifying tournaments which are NRA registered state, regional, and national championships.  Only 2 steps can be earned in a given year and one of the 4 steps required for the award must be at a NRA national championship.

Awesome thank you!
