I shot in the A-Team PRC PRS match last weekend at Alabama Precision.  The weather was beautiful, the wind was brutal and the pollen was so thick it probably reduced projectile velocity by 10 fps....oh, and the mirage blurred many targets.

The wind was very difficult, anywhere from calm to 15 mph with average of 8 mph.  The terrain at AP creates (or funnels) left wind, right wind and head winds.  I saw a very good shooter zero on a stage due to multiple wind shifts.  The match winner dropped 24 shots (Precision Rifle World Champion) and 2nd place dropped 26 (current PRS AG Cup Champ). I finished 49th with 78% impacts.  It was a challenging and frustrating weekend, but looking back I'm tickled as I only made one mental mistake by forgetting to load my magazine -- but I had a backup on my belt.

Basically, it was a great weekend...and I'm paying for it today!

😋 sounds like you had a ball! I sometimes get really frustrated shooting in our wind here in Colorado. Then I realize it's the same for all of us shooting together and the training in difficult conditions is irreplaceable. When all is said and done, no matter what the conditions there isn't anything much more fun than competition shooting. Thanks for your report Jeff - enjoy hearing what others are doing in their shooting discipline.

Way to hang in there Jeff.  Those are tough matches in good conditions but throw in the wind and the other environmentals, you were working hard.  I find that once I get home and think back on the event, I discover that not only did I have a great time but I learned a lot to help in the next match.

If everything seems under control......you're just not going fast enough

Sounds like the winds we had a couple weeks back at Coleman's Creek PRS match. Screaming from the left and then a shot later from the right and then right at you. Definitely makes it interesting. LOL
