This has crossed my mind for a long time to salvage some of these savage barrels for the Remington
in a savage te hesdspaegauge almostalwsysrotrudes.125 in order to make it work in a remington then it must protrude

150 to

.170, I just did one with an old savage barrel and set the breech back about .055 looking for above protrusion remington barrels have the go gauge head about flush with the rear mostbreechface at the rear of the thread tenon

The bolt nose recess is about.150 while the working threads are about .875on yhe tenon

No, the bolt nose recess is necessary with the Remington bolt! The chamber can't be cut in a savage style barrel as deep for use in a remington because in a savage a no go gauge must protrude .125 at the case head from the breech!
In a remington that same measurement comes from the bottom of the bolt nose cut!!
If a savage style barrel is used the no go gauge protrudes approximately between .125 and .175 from a flat breech for use in a remington, that is if that style barrel is to be used!
Best case is use all the remington blueprint dimensions on the breech end of the barrel!!
