I just saw on an ad that Henry is making a lever action in 6.5 Creedmoor. They're calling it the Long Ranger. Sounds like a good candidate for a ranch rifle. And folks said the Creed was just a fad cartridge

Yep.  Have been reading press releases about it for the last hour.  Read reviews of the earlier versions in .243 and .308.  Most were good.  Biggest complaint was the 20" barrel.  The 6.5 CM has a 22" barrel.  SHOT Show coming up.  All kinds of big boy toys.  Browning has already posted some of their 2019 X Bolt additions on their website.
If you have the shot, take it.

my henry 6.5 is at the house and I just got done putting the scope on it, I bought the second one I saw from an outfit called grab a gun.  the first one was on gunbroker, I thought it was a misprint so I didn't buy it.  the trigger needs nothing, fit and finish is excl. its a fine looking rig hope I get it out soon

lucky13,
Let us know how she shoots.  Have a weakness for lever guns and Remington 760/7600's.  The guns I started with as a young deer hunter.  Occasionally carry a Marlin 336C my Mom bought me for Christmas in 1969.  Bought my brother and I each one for $74 each and a Lee hand press to go with them.  Shot/plinked with them like most people do with their .22's.  We got pretty handy at running, off-hand and "jump" shots on deer.  Now we are old and sedate and want the animal stationary before we launch 6.5 CM hot copper and lead in their direction.  BTW, just checked Grab a Gun.  One left in stock.  Phew! Will resist the urge until the fever breaks.

I still have a Marlin 336 in .35Rem and it's the only rifle in my arsenal without glass. Heck of a brush gun in the thick mountain laurel where I hunted for many years. Dropped em where they stood ????

Some might call the 6mm Creed as nothng more than a slightly less powerful .243 Win.

The secret sauce is that he Creed is typically fit with a barrel that handles the heaviest bullets well.

A 115gr bullet from the Creed will track a 25-06 rather well while reaching out to about 100 yards of the '06 in trrms of impact velocity and drop.  Wond drift reaistance likely very close too.

I'm curious to see how these Henry 6.5s pan out. I agree that Henry rifles have excellent handling and great actions, I just haven't been impressed with accuracy so far, even for a lever gun.

Bikemutt,
My concern also.  If I put down $800+, that baby better be able to daub a swamp rabbit in the eye at 100.  Have a NIB "Kool Blue" Rem 7600 in 7-08 I have been holding for 8 years.  Used to be my most favorite caliber. There is a crew in Colorado that will rebarrel, tune the trigger to 2.5 and guarantee sub MOA.  Would love to roll into a Texas deer camp with a 6.5 CM pump action.  Say what?  When the smoked cleared, guarontee I could sell right there at a profit. Have mentioned here before, in 2015, had a bidding war going between the young guides for "Ugly Betty", my first RAP.  Got up to $500 without the optic.  Miss Betty is resting comfortably in the safe as I type this.

I have a 1918, or 1922 (forget) model 94.  It is super fun to shoot and looks fantastic, (middle of refinishing the wood atm) but I have a hard time warming up to the Henry Levers.

levers are my favorite, my first was the Winchester golden spike 30/30 it was $116.00 in 1969. it cost me 2 Christmas 2 birthdays and a lot of yard mowing to get my parents to buy it for me, that one got away but I replaced it with 2 more I got them on display facing each other with the picture of east meets west.

In addition to a Marlin Guide gun in 45/70 that my wife bought me for a birthday years back, I found a very nice 336 stainless .35 Rem
Marlin a while back, both are superbly accurate considering the platform and reasonable expectations. I haven't bothered to work up a load for the 45/70 because is shoots 325 gr Leverlution more than good enough, and, I was way off the beaten path when I found a case of that ammo at a gun store for an unbelievable price, I won't say where since there may still be a warrant out  :))

The .35 Rem I did work up a load for with Varget that it really likes.

Lever guns are special to me, don't really know why, don't care.

If your going to be a Bush Alaskan You need a perfect winter rifle. The Ruger M77 Hawkeye SS in 6.5 Creedmoor is mine.<br>You are being watched.

As I mentioned here once, I have been thinking that when I re-barrel my .308 Savage 99 C I could do it in 6.5 CM. But I have so much .308 ammo that I'll leave it in .308. Besides I already have that beautiful new 6.5 CM Browning X-Bolt Pro.

The re-barrel would be chrome moly, octagonal in 5R rifling, likely Bartlein. Then I'd have a good 'smith do the chambering and "time" the tapered flats.
